Home / Social Events
Wanderbirds hosts several social events throughout the year that allow us to connect off the trail. These events include an Annual Dinner in the Spring, a Picnic in the Summer, and a year-end Holiday Party, in addition to the occasional happy hour gathering. Members receive notice and information on how to sign up via email.
If you have any questions, contact our Director of Entertainment.
Each Spring the Wanderbirds host a delicious catered dinner at a local venue where we can celebrate our history, connect with friends and share hiking ‘war stories.’
Only members may participate.
In early Summer we gather at a local park for a mid-day old-fashioned potluck picnic with lots of grilled brats, veggie burgers, classic picnic salads, desserts and drinks. Prior to lunch, we offer a guided hike through the park.
A couple times a year, we take our usual post-hike social time to a local winery or other establishment with beautiful scenery. Check the Meetup schedule for details. This event is open to everyone who joins the hike through Meetup.
Every December, the Wanderbirds get together (some in holiday finery, others in ugly Christmas sweaters) to send off the old year with great food and drink and a few holiday surprises. But most of all, it’s simply another chance to see what our hiking buddies look like without hats, packs and poles, and to reminisce about so many memorable hikes and other social events! Don’t miss out!
The Wanderbirds have never needed a special excuse to get together and eat! (We even had a cookbook!) To wit, we make sure that every week, after most every hike, hikers will find free snacks and the cheapest cold beer and sodas in town! We congratulate hikers who improve their personal bests of time and/or distance, and worry together if someone is late getting back. Everyone enjoys hearing about the hike’s best sights, sounds, and happenings before climbing back on the bus to snooze away the ride back home! Find us on Facebook
