Update from the President

Wanderbirds is the Washington metro area’s oldest hiking club, founded in April 1, 1934.
We offer a mix of hikes: bus hikes, carpool hikes, and trailhead hikes. Our hikes are on Sundays year-round and in most all weathers. We also offer periodic Happy Hours on midweek evenings.
Bus hike pickups are in downtown DC and, depending on the hike, at Grosvenor metro in Maryland or Vienna metro north in Virginia.
How do you sign up for a hike or Happy Hour? Join the Wanderbirds Hiking Club Meetup via meetup.com. Then sign up for the hike or happy hour of your choice. Fees are $33 for bus hikes, $5 for carpool and trailhead hikes. Happy Hour events are free.
Joining on Meetup is free, but you are also invited to become a paid Wanderbirds member for only $20 per year. The fee is a bargain with benefits including eligibility to attend our picnic, the Spring Dinner, and our annual Holiday Party. Paid members may also vote on our officer slate.
Wanderbirds are always looking for new hike leaders. If you are interested in becoming a hike leader, send an email to our Trails Director, Josh Silverman, at Director.Trails@wanderbirds.org. Each year we plan a hike leaders appreciation party.
The Wanderbirds Hiking Club is friendly and welcoming. We have a core group of established members and new members join us each week.
